Real Wedding: Kirsty and Gery, August 2019

Kirsty and Gery travelled from Washington DC to Dundas Castle for a two-day wedding celebration. Their guests got to enjoy learning how to ceilidh in our Courtyard on the eve of the wedding. Kirsty and Gery made their vows in the Courtyard, enjoyed a drinks reception in front of the Castle and then danced the night away in our Pavilion. They wrote us a gorgeous note once they had returned home which sums up their time at Dundas beautifully….

“Everyone has asked us “What was it like planning a wedding overseas?” likely anticipating a good anecdote or two about the trials and tribulations of such a feat. But truthfully, planning a wedding in Edinburgh from our home in Washington, DC, was stress-free and super enjoyable thanks to the wonderful staff at Dundas Castle. The events team were a dream, patiently answering questions about logistics and offering insights on vendors throughout our 18-month long engagement. They made us confident that our wedding day would be nothing short of perfect with their attention to detail and their support—and it truly was. Rose, in particular, was amazing—during our two days at Dundas, she felt like a fairy godmother making sure everything was moving according to plan and feeling magical.

Dundas truly provided us with the most perfect setting for our wedding. Because we were asking many of our guests to travel overseas, we wanted to make sure that our wedding would feel distinctly Scottish and like a special experience. Dundas offered this and then some. It was the most picturesque venue for all of our wedding events—simultaneously capturing the historic and natural beauty of Scotland. Our guests had such a wonderful time exploring the castle and the grounds—feeling right, royal and regal. Everyone is still talking about our wedding and their experience at Dundas Castle! From the feeling of pulling up to Dundas for the first time, to practising to ceilidh in the courtyard during the welcome picnic, to enjoying the beautiful evening on the lawn after dinner.

Despite only having a few weeks of marriage under our belt, we have already received multiple requests for a series of anniversary parties to give everyone an excuse to go back to Dundas Castle. And in all honesty, we hope that we have anniversary escapes to the Boathouse and truly special milestone anniversary dinners in the Croquet Room in our future. Our wedding day was everything we hoped and more and if we could relive it again, we would in a heartbeat.” – Kirsty and Gery
