21 Aug Real Wedding: Jack and Hayley, April 2024
Jack and Hayley travelled from North Carolina for a true Scottish wedding celebration. They were joined by 40 of their closest friends and family for a two day stay at Dundas Castle.
Guests arrived in the iconic Big Red Bus and were greeted by one of the Castle’s resident baby llamas. Once they were settled, everyone gathered on the front lawn for an unforgettable afternoon of highland games. They all tried their hand at tossing the caber, hammer throwing, highland dancing, bagpiping and many other activities, competing against each other to see which clan would reign supreme!
Following the afternoon activities, guests then prepared for the evening and enjoyed a drinks reception at Dundas before heading to South Queensferry for a delicious meal with views over the famous Forth Bridges.
The wedding day began at a relaxed pace, with breakfast served in the Croquet Room with a selection of lawn games and the squash court available for guests to enjoy. Hayley began preparations with her mother in Winter bedroom, with beautiful afternoon light for hair and make-up.
The wedding party were piped into the Great Hall before Hayley walked down the aisle with her father. Jack and Hayley chose to drink from a quaich, a Scottish tradition, and they had beautiful readings from various guests. Following the ceremony, photographs were taken on the roof of the Auld Keep and then joined the drinks reception in the main Castle.
Dinner was served in the Croquet Room, adorned with fresh white florals and a delicate touch of gold. The Scottish delicacy of haggis was enjoyed by their guests before the newlyweds cut the cake. An evening of dancing in the Main Hall was the perfect way to end a very special wedding celebration.
“We could not have asked for a more incredible experience at Dundas! We began planning our international wedding not knowing what to expect, but immediately when meeting (over zoom) with the Dundas team, we knew it would be the perfect location for our intimate wedding.
You would think planning a wedding so far away would be a logistical challenge, especially not being in person to meet with suppliers. However, the team at Dundas was impeccable both with the level of detail and support provided in the year leading up to the day and also in the suppliers they recommended to us. From the moment we arrived to Dundas for the wedding celebrations, every detail was thought of, they worked seamlessly with all of our other fantastic suppliers, and they could not have been more kind to all of our guests.
We had the most incredible time, could not recommend Dundas more, and can’t thank them enough for making this international wedding everything we hoped for!” – Hayley and Jack
