Real Wedding – Grace and Harlan, October 2023

Real Wedding – Grace and Harlan, October 2023

Grace and Harlan travelled from Montana to Scotland for an autumnal wedding celebration. They enjoyed an extended stay of three nights with their closest friends and family, allowing them to really make themselves at home; making use of every space at Dundas.

On the day of arrival, some guests tucked into a traditional ‘fish supper’ lunch before joining a boat trip from South Queensferry to see the spectacular Forth Bridges. Meanwhile, the ladies all dressed up for a decadent afternoon tea in the Croquet Room, complete with a delicious selection of savoury and sweet treats.

The wedding party gathered later that day for a whisky tasting in the Armoury and Stag Chamber. As guests sampled some of Scotland’s best tipple, they also enjoyed a cheese board to complement each dram. Following the drinks reception, guests were invited into the Croquet Room for a delicious two-course supper to complete the first day of celebrations.

The next day marked the main occasion, the wedding day. Harlan brought some Montana flair to his smart suit with a traditional belt buckle and cowboy hat. Grace was an incredibly elegant bride, wearing a beautiful beaded gown. They chose to make their vows in the Great Hall, located in the 400-year Auld Keep. Handfasting and sharing a quaich were incorporated in their ceremony; both nods to Scottish traditions.

Following the ceremony, the bride and groom enjoyed a drinks reception with their guests in the Main Hall and had lovely photographs of the wedding party taken on the staircase and around the Castle. Guests were then invited to the Pavilion for a three-course wedding breakfast, delicious cocktails and dancing until the sun went down.

The following day, the bride, groom, and wedding party enjoyed a leisurely start to the day. In the late afternoon everybody gathered in the Pavilion for some tasty hog roast rolls to cure any lingering hangovers. The firepits were lit on the Castle lawn, perfect for toasting marshmallows and a relaxed final evening at Dundas.
