Real Wedding: Kirsti & Kjell Martin, November 2022

In November 2022, Kirsti and Kjell Martin embarked on a journey from Oslo to Scotland to celebrate their love amidst the company of their nearest and dearest. Their wedding, spanning two days, celebrated the very best culinary delights and included some thrilling activities for a truly unforgettable experience.

The festivities commenced the day before the ceremony, with a cosy gathering of 18 guests immersing themselves in Scottish traditions. Upon arrival, Kirsti and Kjell Martin embraced the spirit of Scotland by dressing in tartan. Laughter and joy filled the air as they gathered in the Auld Keep for a wedding rehearsal, followed by a relaxed supper in the Stag Chamber and a nightcap in the Library before retiring to bed.

Kirsti and Kjell chose to have a relaxed wedding morning, with their ceremony taking place in the mid-afternoon. Anticipation began to build as Kirsti’s daughters took charge of hair and makeup while enjoying some tasty light lunches in Spring Bedroom. Guests indulged in a pre-ceremony drinks reception in the Armoury, enjoying Pommery Champagne and nibbles of honey and chilli pork, saffron and lime chicken, treacle cured salmon and crab Marie-Rose.

In the late afternoon, Kirsti was piped to the Auld Keep, where she and Kjell Martin exchanged vows and tied the knot in a traditional Scottish handfasting ceremony. The newlyweds had an opportunity to capture some precious moments together on the roof overlooking the Forth Bridges and in front of the Castle.

The evening unfolded in the Castle, with crackling open fires and an abundance of candles creating a cosy atmosphere. Guests were served an indulgent eight-course dinner with paired wines in the Croquet Room. Following a leisurely supper, the newlyweds took to the Main Hall dancefloor for a heartfelt first dance.

The celebrations didn’t end with the wedding day. The morning after, the wedding party revelled in the beauty of the castle grounds, embracing an exhilarating 4×4 driving experience. This was followed by a high tea of delicious fish and chips in the Croquet Room.
