Real Wedding: Fiona and Shaun, April 2022

Fiona and Shaun are childhood sweethearts and actually met at whilst at school.

Their wedding in April could not have been sunnier. After making their vows in the Auld Keep, they enjoyed the old Scottish tradition of ‘hand tying’, which was the way that marriages were celebrated until the mid 1700’s. The couple would link hands to form an infinite circle, and then, their hands or wrists would be bound together, symbolizing the binding together of their two lives into one; hence ‘tying the knot’.

Fiona and Shaun have a close connection with Dundas, as Shaun proposed along the side of the Dundas loch whilst on a walk around the estate.

“We used to live not far from Dundas and loved taking our dog Cali for a walk around grounds and down to the loch. We actually got engaged at the loch so we knew it would be amazing to get married there too! We loved every bit of our day, but really what stood out looking back was not having to worry about anything. Mahi and the team knew exactly what was happening and took care of everything so we could relax and enjoy the day. The whole day was so amazing it’s hard to pick just one lasting memory, we can’t stop looking back at pictures and just wish we could go back and do it all again. We had pizzas in the evening for our evening catering, which we enjoyed by the fire pits outside; it was a favourite spot for our guests when they were taking a break from dancing as well. The view of the castle lit up at night was stunning”!
