Relax and Unwind

This cosy retreat is the perfect escape for a romantic break or could be a memorable gift for a loved one.

Some couples choose to shut the door behind them and use the Boathouse as a place of rest and recuperation.  Others choose to make the Boathouse their base as they travel throughout Scotland, taking in some of the world-renowned sights that this beautiful country is known for.  There are also those who choose to partake in an outdoor activity and here are some options for you to consider.

SAILING

Port Edgar Marina is situated in South Queensferry, only 10 minutes from the Boathouse.  Working in partnership, we are delighted to offer guests of the Boathouse the chance to sail on the Firth of Forth.  Using either a Keelboat or power boat (RIB), you will cruise the Forth with a skipper who will teach you how to helm the boat yourself.  There are options for a cruise of the islands or even a private trip to Inchcolm, one of the islands on the Forth.  Should you wish to stop off along the way, you are able to enjoy lunch or a drink in Aberdour or another of the quaint villages along the coastline.  Please just speak to a member of the team if you have any ideas of your own.  The cost for a private sailing activity for 2 is from £46 per person. This activity needs to be organised by the guest with the sailing provider, the Dundas team will be happy to provide you with more details and booking information once you have confirmed your stay in the boathouse.

WALKING

There are a number of planned walking routes available for you to enjoy during your time at the Boathouse that will provide you with a lovely way to explore the Dundas Castle estate.  There are points of interest marked for you including the remains of the former walled garden where all the vegetables and fruits were grown for the Dundas Estate and a number of stunning view points.  Along with the wide variety of plant species dating from early 18th century, it is common to see pheasants on the shorter grass, swallows flying overhead, swans swimming in the Loch, and even deer roaming the forest.  No matter what the season, there are spectacular views from your balcony that will ensure that you will never forget your time at the romantic Boathouse on the loch.
