25 Nov A Special Invitation…
At the start of October, Dundas Castle hosted a fundraiser for Queensferry Care.
Queensferry Care do a lot of work in and around not just Queensferry, but also Dalmeny, Kirkliston, Ratho and Newbridge. The charity provides quality support services to older people and carers in the form of day care, memory cafes, and a supper club for people with dementia. It really is a great organisation and with Dundas’s Lady Lydia Stewart-Clark as their honorary president we were excited to be part of their amazing fundraiser ‘An Evening of Dinner, Art and Dancing’. It was fabulous to see so many people play a part in making this night happen and raising a total of £14,000!
The evening itself was fantastic with guests arriving to the sound of John Anderson piping and a glass of fizz awaiting them. The night kicked off with a gorgeous dinner and wine, which allowed everyone to relax before the main part of the event – The Art Auction! Guests were keen to bid for a varied selection of artworks which had been donated by talented and well-known local and national artists – some of whom also attended to showcase their work. Dougie Vipond did a terrific job at hosting and the result was phenomenal with the fifteen items on auction raising £10,380. Some additional donated art featured in an ‘Art Shop’, which raised a further £1000 on the night.
The Occasionals ceilidh band got everyone up dancing – a great finish to a fabulous and successful event.
Thank you to everyone who organised, donated, lent a helping hand or took part in this event to raise money for such an important charity. To see more about what Queensferry Care do, please visit their website.
